no matter what settings i change i cannot chat even though my account is over 10 years old and im over 20

Minecraft servers like Hypixel use your Microsoft or Xbox account privacy settings to determine whether chat is allowed. Even if your account is old and you’re over 20, if your privacy settings restrict communication or your account is part of a family group with child restrictions, chat will be blocked. This is a safety measure to prevent unwanted communication.

 

What can you do now is:

Update your Xbox/Microsoft privacy settings

Go to https://account.xbox.com/settings

Sign in with the same account you use for Minecraft.

Check these settings under “Privacy & Online Safety”:

Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites → Set to Everyone or Friends.

You can join multiplayer games → Enable.

You can see and share custom content → Enable.

If your account is in a family group:

Ask the organizer to allow communication settings for your profile.

Restart Minecraft and rejoin the server after saving changes.

 

These restrictions are controlled by Microsoft’s safety policies, not the server itself. Once you update your privacy settings and confirm your account is unrestricted, chat should work.
