So I am unable to login with my password if I forgot my password, it asks me to use my 2FA which says is not working. I then fill in the account recovery form and I get a message say they ignore these requests because I have 2FA turned on. There is no customer service support.

    Hi Tim,

Thank you for sharing your questions. I understand why you're having trouble getting into your Outlook account. It's super annoying when you can't get in, especially with two-factor authentication turned on and the usual backup methods aren't doing the trick.

Based on my knowledge Microsoft is really serious about security. With 2FA on, that account recovery form alone isn't enough to get you back in. 2FA is there to block anyone who shouldn't be there, even if they somehow know your password. If you can't get at least one of your 2FA methods (like the app, backup codes, or a device you trust), Microsoft can't automatically check if it's really you.

    Here’s what I suggest

First, see if you can log in from a device or spot where you've signed in before. Sometimes that makes things easier.

If you save any of those one-time backup codes when you set up 2FA, give them a shot.

If you're still logged in on a device or browser you trust, head to https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional to fix your security info.

May I also ask to have you tried logging in from a device or browser you’ve used before? Or did you save any backup codes when you set up 2FA?

I hope this answer is helpful, if you have any questions, feel free to reply.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

    Hi Tim,

Thank you for following up, and I’m sorry to hear that none of your devices are working and you don’t have a backup recovery code. I completely understand how frustrating and helpless this situation can feel, especially when you're locked out of your Outlook account and the usual recovery options aren't available.

Microsoft’s current policy is very strict when it comes to accounts with two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. If you’ve lost access to all your verification methods (like your Authenticator app, phone number, or backup email), and you don’t have a recovery code saved, Microsoft support agents are not allowed to reset your password or bypass 2FA for security reasons.

When you submit the account recovery form, it will be automatically rejected if 2FA is turned on and no verification method is available. This is confirmed by Microsoft’s official guidance.

Here’s what you can still try.

Use the Sign-In Helper Tool, which may offer alternative recovery paths depending on your account history and device usage.

If you ever signed in from a trusted device or location (like your home PC or work laptop), try again from there. Microsoft’s system may recognize it and offer additional options.

If you previously printed or saved a 25-digit recovery code, you can use it to regain access. Unfortunately, if you didn’t generate one before losing access, it can’t be created now.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel
