For some reason when clicking Sign Out Teams doesn't sign out. Is there a way to fix this?

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing about the issue with signing out of the new Microsoft Teams. I understand it’s frustrating when clicking “Sign Out” doesn’t fully log you out, especially if you’re trying to secure your account or switch users.

This happens because the new Teams client keeps cached credentials and session data even after sign-out, which is common on shared devices.

To fix this, make sure Teams is updated to the latest version. If the issue continues, disconnect your account through Windows Settings > Email & Accounts > Access work or school. For a full reset, uninstall Teams, delete the %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams folder, and reinstall the app. IT admins can also run the Teams Sign-in diagnostic in the Microsoft 365 admin center to check for tenant-level issues.

I hope you find this information helpful. Please let me know if you have any further questions If the answer is helpful, please click "Accept Answer".

    Hi Mike,

Delete the entire Teams folder, not just its contents. This clears all cached data and settings. After that, reinstall Teams to create fresh files.

Is the Teams folder located under the Roaming Profile folder? I can't find it.

    Hi Mike,

Since the issue persists even after uninstalling Teams and removing the folder. It sounds like the issue is on cached credentials stored outside the Teams app, such as in Windows account settings or the Web Account Manager.

In that case, I'd suggest signing out of Teams, then go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school and disconnect any work or school accounts linked to Teams. Next, clear Teams credentials from Credential Manager by opening Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials and removing any entries related to Teams or Microsoft 365. After that, restart your device and sign back in to Teams.

If the issue persists, try signing in using a different profile or test in a new Windows user account to rule out profile corruption.

    Regards,
    Carlo

    Hi Mike,

I'd suggest reaching out to your local IT admins to run the Teams Sign-in diagnostic in the Microsoft 365 admin center to check for tenant-level issues.

    Regards,
    Carlo
