A virtual machine was not visible in the Azure portal due to a subscription-level filter. After removing the filter, the VM appeared in a running state. However, RDP connectivity using the public IP address was unsuccessful.
A change in the virtual network configuration resulted in an update to the VM’s network association, which caused the previously assigned public IP address to become invalid for RDP access.
Connectivity was successfully restored by using the VM’s private IP address after verifying the correct network configuration.
