Intructions to Install Microsoft Standard 2021 on a new PC in my Office

Question

My office purchased Microsoft Project Standard 2021 and I have a valid Product Key. How do I download Project onto a new PC and install it. I am not an IT manager so please can you give me simple step by step instructions. Thank you.

In this case, please follow these steps to download and install Microsoft Project Standard 2021.

1.Customize the Configuration File

• Visit https://config.office.com to create a custom configuration.xml file.

Note: Please contact the Global Administrator of your tenant and request that they provide you with the XML file.

• Choose the product: Project Standard 2021.

• Specify architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), language, and other settings.
• Download the XML file after customization.

• Please untick the box Uninstall any MSI versions of Office, including Visio and Project to keep the existing MSI versions.

• Choose the KMS option in the Product key section.
• After that, click Export.

2.Download the Office Deployment Tool

• Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49117to get the Office Deployment Tool.
• Click Download and extract the tool to a folder on your PC.

3.Place the Configuration File

• Move your customized configuration.xml file into the same folder as the extracted Office Deployment Tool files.
• Create a new text document and paste the following command: setup.exe /configure configuration.xml

• Click Save As > rename the file to install.bat > select All Files from the dropdown.

• Then delete the file named New Text Document and open the file install.bat.

• Run the following command: setup.exe /configure configuration.xml
• This will begin the installation of Microsoft Project Standard 2021.

4.Activate the Product

• After installation, open Microsoft Project.
• Enter your product key when prompted to activate the software.
