When we enrolled for Microsoft 365 we created our daughter as the only Organiser.

Now we have a problem in that it is asking for an adult to verify her, she is unable to login, unable to change anything, unable to cancel the subscription, and we need to fix this urgently.

To resolve the issue of your minor daughter being listed as the organizer in Microsoft 365, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support: Since your daughter cannot log in and verify her account, you should contact Microsoft support for assistance. They can help you change the organizer or manage the account settings.
    2. Provide Verification: Be prepared to provide any necessary verification information that Microsoft may require to assist you in changing the account settings or transferring the organizer role to an adult.
    3. Consider Account Management: In the future, it is advisable to have an adult as the primary organizer or administrator for Microsoft 365 accounts to avoid similar issues.
    4. Check Admin Roles: If you have access to another adult account within your Microsoft 365 subscription, that account may have the ability to manage user roles and subscriptions.

These steps should help you address the urgent issue of account access and management.

    Hi Julie,

When you set up Microsoft 365 Family and made your daughter the only Organizer, the system still requires an adult account for verification. This is because:

Microsoft Family Safety follows child account compliance rules under privacy laws.

A child account cannot manage billing, cancel subscriptions, or verify identity without an adult account linked.

If there’s no adult account in the family group, the verification process gets stuck, and the child account loses access.

    Here’s what you can try:

Add an Adult Account to the Family Group

Sign in at http://family.microsoft.com  with any adult Microsoft account.

Add that account as an Organizer.

Once added, you can manage verification and subscription settings.

If You Can’t Add an Adult Account

Contact Microsoft Support directly they can help reset the family setup or cancel the subscription.
