Mounted ISO Image Opens In New Explorer Window

Whenever I mount an ISO image in File Explorer, instead of showing the contents in the same window like in Windows 10, a new window opens up instead with its contents. On one system, it will sometimes do it, displaying the ISO's contents in both the window that the ISO was opened from and in the new window. On another system, it will almost always do it, but will only show the ISO's contents in the new window while not navigating away from the window that the ISO was mounted from, but sometimes it may open two new windows instead of one. How do I make Windows 11 always display the mounted ISO's contents in the same window? I've already tried re-associating the ISO extension with File Explorer, but that didn't seem to help much.

To ensure that mounted ISO images always open in the same File Explorer window in Windows 11, you can try adjusting the settings in File Explorer. However, specific settings to control this behavior directly may not be available in the current version of Windows 11. Here are a few general suggestions you can consider:

    1. Check Folder Options: Go to File Explorer, click on the View menu, select Options, and then check the Folder Options. Look for any settings related to opening folders in the same window or new window.
    2. Registry Edit: If you're comfortable with editing the registry, you might find settings related to how File Explorer handles mounted images. Be cautious when making changes to the registry, as incorrect changes can affect system stability.
    3. Default Apps: Ensure that the default app for opening ISO files is set to File Explorer. You can check this in Settings > Apps > Default apps.
    4. Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 is up to date, as updates can sometimes resolve issues with system behavior.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be a limitation of the current version of Windows 11, and you might want to provide feedback to Microsoft regarding this behavior.
