During initial startup a pin is required to proceed. However the pin input box freezes and I have to restart computer to enable the entry of pass code number. I have tried running the windows fix without disrupting my program files. I do not wish to wipe my drive clean and do a complete reinstall due to the hours to accomplish task. Any ideas what is going on or a simple fix? I keep no personal files on my computer and would like to be able to bypass the sign-in pass code requirement as well and just turn computer on and got to home screeen.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with the PIN input freezing during startup on Windows 11. Here are some potential solutions you can try:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 is up to date. Sometimes, issues like these are resolved in updates.
    2. Restart Biometric Service: If you're using Windows Hello, you can try restarting the biometric service. To do this, remove any existing PIN under Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, then open a command prompt as an administrator and run the following commands:
         net stop wbiosrvc
         net start wbiosrvc

After this, try re-enrolling your PIN.
    3. Device Manager: Check if your biometric device is functioning properly. Go to Device Manager and ensure that the biometric device is listed under Biometric devices. If necessary, uninstall the driver and restart your computer to let Windows reinstall it.
    4. Disable PIN Requirement: If you want to bypass the PIN requirement altogether, you can do this by going to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and changing the sign-in options to not require a PIN.
    5. Feedback Hub: If none of these solutions work, consider filing a feedback item using the Feedback Hub to report the issue to Microsoft.

These steps should help you troubleshoot the freezing issue and potentially allow you to bypass the PIN requirement if desired.

    Hi,

Were you able to check and also try this, You can try booting into Safe Mode and see if the PIN input works there, this can help determine if a startup app is causing the freeze. Another option is to create a new local user account and see if the PIN works on that account; if it does, your current profile may be corrupted. You can also disable the PIN entirely and use automatic sign-in: press Windows + R , netplwiz, select your account, uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this compute", then enter your password once so Windows goes straight to the desktop after startup.

    Kind regards,
