Windows 11-windows setup installation failure

I am trying to install an in-place upgrade for windows 11 (25H2). I tried to do this yesterday and it failed during the second boot phase. After asking on this site, I determined the problem was another program interfering and am now attempting to perform the update in a clean boot. The problem is when I get to the part where it says "Installing Windows 11 your pc will restart several times. This will take a while" it fails at 55%, a point I got past with no issue yesterday. More frustrating still; windows 11 setup doesn't give any details about what went wrong. It just says the installation failed. I have been struggling with this update for more than a week. I would greatly appreciate someone who will help me with this and stick around for any follow-up questions I have.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your Windows 11 upgrade. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the installation failure:

    1. Check for Compatibility Issues: Ensure that your PC meets the minimum requirements for Windows 11. You can verify this by checking the Windows 11 requirements.
    2. Review Event Logs: Use Event Viewer to check for any system logs that might indicate driver or hardware issues. Look for any errors that could be related to the installation failure.
    3. Update Drivers: Make sure that all your drivers are up to date. Use Windows Update to check for any available updates, and also check the manufacturer's website for any specific drivers that may need updating.
    4. Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager and look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark, indicating driver errors. Resolve these issues by updating or uninstalling the problematic drivers.
    5. BIOS Update: Ensure that your BIOS and firmware are up to date. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest versions.
    6. Repair or Remove Unsigned Drivers: If you have any unsigned drivers, consider repairing or removing them as they can cause installation issues.
    7. Clean Boot: Since you're already attempting a clean boot, ensure that all non-Microsoft services are disabled. This can help eliminate any software conflicts during the installation process.

If you continue to face issues after trying these steps, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.

    Hi Rachel,

Please share a zipped copy of the following setup log file on OneDrive (or any other host) and post the link here:

    C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log

Note: C:\$WINDOWS.~BT is a hidden folder. To access it, press Win + R, type C:\$WINDOWS.~BT and click OK.

As you're using Windows 11 24H2, please run the 25H2 enablement package to upgrade to 25H2.

The 25H2 enablement package is here:

Please run winver.exe and post a screenshot.

Reset the Windows Update cache using this batch file to see if that removes the 24H2 repair version from the WU queue:

    https://gist.github.com/winhelponline/af9296c106448a664a6229d8146a85fd

    1. Download the zip file and extract the batch file to the desktop.
    2. Right-click on the batch file, click Properties, click "Unblock" (if present), and OK.
    3. Double-click the batch file to run it.
    4. After it completes execution, don't close it yet.
    5. Right-click on that Command Prompt window, click "Edit" and click "Select all"
    6. Right-click on that Command Prompt window, click "Edit" and click "Copy" (This copies the output to the clipboard.)
    7. Paste the info (Ctrl + V) into your reply window.
