My Teams invites are using an incorrect email address

This started happening last week.

When I send a Teams invite the recipient receives it from O[******@outlook.com]

when it should have my correct outlook address. If the recipient responds, I can't see the response (as it goes to that email address) and they get an error message.

Any idea how to fix this as it is also impacting my wife's business and if this carries on we will move to Zoom

Regards

T

It sounds like the issue you are experiencing with Microsoft Teams invites using an incorrect email address could be related to how your Teams account is set up or how your email is configured within Microsoft 365. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check Your Email Settings: Ensure that your primary email address in your Microsoft 365 account is set correctly. You can do this by signing in to the Microsoft 365 admin center and verifying your account details.
    2. Remove Invalid Auto-Complete Entries: If the incorrect email address is cached in your Auto-Complete list, it may be causing the invites to go to the wrong address. You can manage your Auto-Complete list in Outlook to remove any invalid entries.
    3. Verify Teams Settings: Make sure that your Teams account is linked to the correct email address. If you have multiple accounts or aliases, ensure that you are using the correct one when sending invites.
    4. Contact Support: If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for assistance, as they can provide more detailed troubleshooting based on your account configuration.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue with your Teams invites.

Teams is not able to send emails from a not Microsoft email address, and therefore is using a default @outlook.com address. A "fix" to this issue is to create a Microsoft-based email alias and set it as the primary alias for your account.
