Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hello Sharon Rone Self, thanks for posting this in our community. That experience is strange and frustrating.
To check for suspicious login activity, go to the Microsoft Account Security Page and sign in with the Microsoft account you're having issues with. Under “Sign-in activity,” click “Review recent activity.” You’ll see a list of successful and failed sign-in attempts, device and location information, IP addresses, and whether any sign-in was marked suspicious. Review the list carefully and take action if you see anything unfamiliar.
Even if you’ve changed your password recently, it’s worth resetting it again through Microsoft’s official password reset page to ensure everything is synced properly.
Also, Windows may store outdated credentials that interfere with sign-in. To clear these, open Credential Manager by searching for it in the Start menu. Go to Windows Credentials and look for any entries related to Outlook, Office, or Microsoft 365. Remove those entries, restart your computer, and try signing in again.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
John Oli
