Hello Sharon Rone Self, thanks for posting this in our community. That experience is strange and frustrating.

To check for suspicious login activity, go to the Microsoft Account Security Page and sign in with the Microsoft account you're having issues with. Under “Sign-in activity,” click “Review recent activity.” You’ll see a list of successful and failed sign-in attempts, device and location information, IP addresses, and whether any sign-in was marked suspicious. Review the list carefully and take action if you see anything unfamiliar.

Even if you’ve changed your password recently, it’s worth resetting it again through Microsoft’s official password reset page to ensure everything is synced properly.

Also, Windows may store outdated credentials that interfere with sign-in. To clear these, open Credential Manager by searching for it in the Start menu. Go to Windows Credentials and look for any entries related to Outlook, Office, or Microsoft 365. Remove those entries, restart your computer, and try signing in again.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    John Oli

If you are experiencing repeated prompts for the wrong password when trying to sign in to Outlook in Microsoft 365, there are several potential causes and solutions you can consider:

    1. Incorrect User ID or Password: Ensure that you are entering the correct user ID and password. Double-check for any typos or accidental spaces when copying and pasting the password.
    2. Password Synchronization Issues: If your organization uses password synchronization with Azure Active Directory, make sure to change your computer password and ensure that the password is synced correctly. You can also reset your password through your organization's system if needed.
    3. Outlook Configuration: If you are using an older version of Outlook, check the Logon network security setting in your account settings. It should be set to Anonymous Authentication to avoid continuous prompts for credentials.
    4. Self-Diagnostics Tool: For newer versions of Outlook, consider running a self-diagnostics tool to identify any issues that might be causing the problem. This can help provide automated checks and possible solutions.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consult your organization's IT support or visit the Microsoft Community for further assistance.
