What would be the cost of adding an additional WAF policy in Front Door Premium?

Hello Microsoft Q&A Team,

I currently have an Azure Front Door Premium instance with a WAF policy that includes both managed and custom rules.

This policy is configured to work only with specific sites.

If I wanted to add a second WAF policy with different managed and custom rules, what would be the associated cost?

Hello Rafael Gil Sanchez, Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A platform.

In Azure Front Door Premium, Web Application Firewall (WAF) is included as part of the Premium tier. Unlike the Standard tier or the older Classic SKU, Premium does not charge separately for WAF policies or rules. The pricing model for Premium is based on:

• Base fee for the Premium profile
• Request charges
• Data transfer charges

Adding additional WAF policies does not increase your monthly cost. You can create multiple WAF policies (up to the service limits) without paying extra for the policy itself.

1. Additional WAF policies are free under Azure Front Door Premium.
2. You will continue to pay:
   • Base fee for Premium profile (approx. $330/month, varies by region)
   • Request charges (e.g., $0.225 per 10,000 requests for the first 250M requests)
   • Data transfer charges based on region and GB consumed
3. Service limits: You can associate up to 200 security policies per Premium profile, but only one WAF policy can be linked to a domain or route at a time.
