Personal account recovery

2025-11-13T10:41:06.34+00:00

I have a personal hotmail account and when I travel it often gets blocked.

I have always managed to recover my account following the recommended process, but this time I am unable to recover as all my attempts are denied without any explanations, even though I answer all the requested questions.

This is crippling me as this e-mail address is connected to many personal sites and apps, which I cannot update anymore.

I cannot get any support from Microsoft this is why I use this venue with my professional account.

Can somebody help me?

    Hello Dr. Cambois,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the details of your situation. I understand how frustrating it must be to lose access to your Hotmail account especially since it’s linked to many personal services.

Microsoft blocks accounts when unusual sign-in activity is detected to protect your data. Recovery is handled through an automated process and support agents cannot manually override it for security reasons. The best option is to use the Microsoft Account Recovery Form and provide as much accurate information as possible, such as old passwords, folder names, recent email subjects and billing details if applicable. Submitting the form from a familiar device and location improves your chances. If you’ve enabled two-step verification you’ll need access to your verification method as the form cannot bypass that. If you don’t recognize the recovery options try the Sign-In Helper. You can submit the form twice per day and many users succeed after multiple attempts.

Have you tried completing the recovery form from a device and location you previously used to sign in?

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo

    Hello Dr. Cambois,

Thank for getting back to me for the update, since the standard recovery form isn’t working for you the best approach is to try the Microsoft Account Recovery Form again but make sure you optimize it. Submit the form from the same device and network you normally use and provide as much historical detail as possible such as old passwords, folder names, recent email subjects and recipients and any billing information if you’ve used paid Microsoft services. Avoid generic answers because specific details significantly improve your chances.

If you had two-step verification enabled keep in mind that the recovery form cannot bypass it. You’ll need access to the linked phone or email. If you’ve lost access to those you’ll need to update your security information. If you can still sign in but can’t verify go to the Microsoft Security Info page, add a new email or phone number and wait for the 30-day period Microsoft enforces before the new information becomes active.

You can also try using the Sign-In Helper which sometimes offers different prompts than the standard recovery form. If none of these options work escalate the issue through Microsoft Support by visiting their contact page, selecting Account & Billing select Microsoft Account select Unable to sign in and requesting a callback or chat.

When you do explain that you’ve exhausted the recovery form and need further assistance.

    Best regards,

    Marcelo

    Hi Dr. Cambois,

Since the recovery form and standard methods have not worked and you cannot sign in to update your security information the best option is to escalate the issue directly to Microsoft Support without signing in. You can do this by visiting the Microsoft Support Contact page at https://support.microsoft.com/contactus.

On that page select Account & Billing as the topic, choose Microsoft Account as the product and indicate that you are unable to sign in. From there use the chat option or request a callback so you can speak with a live agent without needing to log in. When you connect with support explain that you have tried the recovery form multiple times, lost access to your recovery email and cannot sign in at all, so you need manual identity verification.

Before starting the chat or call gather any details that can help verify your identity such as old passwords you remember, the approximate date you created the account, any billing information if you have used paid Microsoft services and recent email subjects or contacts if possible.

    Best regards,

    Marcelo
