I got a notification that my account was accessed from RUSSIA and I want to query it because I know that MS is all over the place with recognising places but I also have NOT accessed my account in the last week.

Furthermore I logged into MS but suddenly got something called LEARN that appears to be of no interest to me although now I supposedly have YET ANOTHER account.

This is the email address from which the strange notification came:

Microsoft account team ******@accountprotection.microsoft.com

Can someone help me in simple english without a thousand mysterious acronyms how to proceed please - and what this LEARN business is all about....

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

It appears you've received an email from the Official Microsoft Account Protection team, which appears to be legitimate.

See Can I trust email from the Microsoft account team? and confirm if you've received the email from this address.

This email indicates that someone from Russia tried to access your account. For security reasons, Microsoft has blocked their access and notified you to secure your account.

Go to https://account.live.com/Activity (Recent activity page) and sign in with your Microsoft account.

If you notice unusual activity, please secure your account by changing your Microsoft account password and enabling two-factor authentication.

If you enable two-factor authentication, even if someone knows your password, they won't be able to access your account without the Verification code.

You can make these security changes by signing in with your Microsoft account here -

What this LEARN business is all about....

    1. Where exactly did you see the “LEARN” option?
    2. Was it on the Microsoft website, your account dashboard, or inside an app?

If possible, please share a screenshot of where “LEARN” appears so I can guide you more accurately.

Meanwhile, please note that Microsoft Community has been changed to Microsoft Learn Q&A.

Thank you - I did not realise or remember that there had been a meaningless name change just to confuse us tyros and make the MS facilities harder to navigate....I will carry out the check you suggest and then go to the account management link
