Sign In tells me I have tried too many times with incorrect Username or Password. I reset the Password, it works for a day and the next day I have the same problem.

    Hi Paco,

The reason this happens is because Microsoft’s security system enforces strict limits on recovery attempts to protect accounts from unauthorized access or automated attacks. When too many resets or verification requests occur in a short period, the system temporarily locks further attempts even if you’re the legitimate owner. This cooldown can last up to 24–48 hours, and during this time, even correct information won’t work.

What you can do now is:

Wait for the cooldown to clear Avoid additional recovery attempts for at least 24 hours. More attempts can extend the lockout.

Prepare for the next recovery attempt

Gather details Microsoft might ask: old passwords, subject lines of recent emails, folder names, and your account creation date.

Make sure you have access to your backup email or phone number.

Add extra recovery options once you regain access

Set up multiple recovery emails and phone numbers.

Enable Microsoft Authenticator or two-step verification for stronger security.

If you still can’t access after 48 hours Contact Microsoft Support directly using a different account and explain that you’ve reached the recovery limit and need assistance unlocking your account.

Let me know how it goes, Happy to help!

If you are receiving a message that you have tried to sign in too many times, it may be due to your account being temporarily locked after multiple failed login attempts. This can happen even if you believe your username and password are correct. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check for Account Lockout: If you enter an incorrect username or password multiple times, your account may get locked. You will need to wait for a period of time before trying to sign in again.
    2. Reset Password: Since you mentioned that resetting the password works for a day, ensure that you are following the correct procedure to reset it. After resetting, make sure to log in with the new password immediately to confirm it works.
    3. Contact Administrator: If the problem persists, it may be necessary to contact your Active Directory administrator to check if there are any account restrictions or if your account needs to be unlocked.
    4. Password Synchronization: If your organization uses password synchronization, ensure that your password is being updated across all platforms you use.
    5. Check for External Factors: Sometimes, third-party applications or network settings can interfere with the login process. Ensure that no security applications are blocking your sign-in attempts.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consult with your IT support for further assistance.
