Hi Stormie Stafford,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!
There are different reasons for why your crossword and word games appear to stop in 2017. To better help you, I would like to ask if you're checking in the new "Microsoft Ultimate Word Games" and "Solitaire Collection"?
If not, the older Microsoft Solitaire and Casual Games platform was retired. New challenges and puzzles are now delivered through the new, separate applications mentioned above. You can download them from Microsoft Store:
However, if you were experiencing issues with those exact applications, there might be a configuration or local data corruption problem. Microsoft continuously releases new content for these games so it shouldn't stay in 2017. Here's what you should do:
- Log out of your account from both the apps and Microsoft Store
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed Apps (if you're on Windows 11)
- Search for the apps > click the three-dot > Advanced options
- Scroll to the bottom, click "Terminate" and then "Repair" option
- Open and check the games, if it still shows 2017, click "Reset" option
If the issue persists, let me know your Windows version and provide screenshots if possible (hide personal info). You can also reach out directly to Microsoft Casual Games support, they may look into the issue and perform server-side checks if needed.
