The problem of WinRE not detecting USB keyboard and mouse was fixed on 26200.xxxx builds, but the fix was not propagated to Dev and Beta builds 26220.7070 which still have the same problem.

Why was the fix not added to Dev and Beta builds?

Please fix the bug also on build 26220.xxxx. Thanks.

    Hi F G,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Q&A Forum!

The USB input bug in WinRE was introduced by KB5066835 and fixed in production builds via KB5070773 (OS builds 26100.6901 and 26200.6901). I can see that you are well aware of this from your previous interactions in the Forum.

Insider Dev/Beta builds run ahead of servicing baselines, so fixes for stable branches are validated first and then merged into Insider branches later. This delay is normal because Insider builds include experimental code paths that require separate testing.

The best way to escalate this is through the Feedback Hub:

    1. Press Win + F or search for Feedback Hub in Start.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account that you used to register for the Insider Program.
    3. Click Report a problem > Category: Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) or Installation and Recovery > Subcategory: Keyboard/Mouse input issues.
    4. Add build number (26220.7070), and mention that the fix exists in 26200.xxxx but not in Dev/Beta.
    5. Select Windows Insider Program in tags and upvote similar reports to increase visibility.

Thanks again for taking your time providing feedback and helping Microsoft improve!

    Yes, it is fixed.

Checked on both Dev and Beta 26220.7262. 👍
