@Ivan B Thanks very much for trying to help. Unfortunately, your solution did not help with my particular dilemma. I am happy to re[ort that it is now finally sorted - the solution lay with Yahoo, from where I import my mail into Outlook (I have been doing so since 2004!). I kept being told that my User Name and Password were not being accepted. What they did not tell me was that I needed to create a single-use, app password from within their system and use that password instead of my own password!!! I am much relieved it works now. Cheers Brian
How do I install Classic Microsoft Outlook on a Windows 11 PC
I have a new Windows 11 PC (i7, ASUS) and want to re-install my Outlook 2016 using POP3 (i.e. NOT 365). I currently works like a dream on my Windows 10 PC. I get as far as Test Settings and them it bombs - I have completed all the settings and the More Settings with the exact same settings as the Windows 10 settings, but ...
- Incoming Server (POP3) set at 995
- Checked This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL/TLS)
- Outgoing Server (SMPT) 465 with Use the following encrypted connection set to SSL/TLS Any/all suggestions would be appreciated - thank you Brian

2025-11-17T13:16:03.3966667+00:00 I have done what the AI proposes a number of times, all with the same outcome. I have done it again and made note of the error messages I get:
- Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.
- Send test email message: The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
