Microsoft Authenticator Loop

Here is a breakdown of my situation:

  • I deleted my authenticator app
  • Didn't have any other MFA options other than this and email code
  • Every time I try to add it on the app, it asks for the app code (loop)
  • I tried to log into my account settings to avoid the use of the app, need the app code to login there (loop)
  • When I click "I can't use the app" in the login windows everywhere, it only directs to the app and a verification code from the app
  • I can't login anywhere but my email which will eventually time out

This is making me want to switch to google!

Anyone fixed this?

It seems you are experiencing a common issue with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) after deleting your authenticator app. Since you no longer have access to the app for generating codes, you will need to reset your MFA settings to regain access to your account. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Contact Product Support: Since you deleted the authenticator app and are unable to log in, you should reach out to Microsoft Product Support. They can assist you in resetting your MFA settings. You will need to provide them with the email address associated with your account.
    2. Use Alternative Recovery Options: If you have any other recovery options set up (like a backup email or phone number), try using those to regain access to your account.
    3. Access Security Settings: If you can log into your account via email, check if you can access your security settings to manage your MFA options. However, if it's prompting for the app code, this may not be possible without support.
    4. Consider Re-registering MFA: If you have an administrator for your Microsoft account, they can set the requirement for re-registering MFA, which may help you set it up again without the app.

This situation can be frustrating, but contacting support is often the quickest way to resolve these types of issues.
