MacOS MyDay Menu Bar doesn't open over full screen apps

I have the MyDay menu bar enabled for Outlook on MacOS. This works great on my desktop or second monitor (that I keep on desktop with multiple windows open), but if I put an app to full screen mode it no longer works the same. In full screen mode I can see the icon, but when I click on it, it doesn't open and allow me to join meetings etc, it just does nothing. Other icons in the menu bar still work as expected including wifi, Synergy 3 etc.

    Hi @Frank Zebre

Thank you for posting your question in the Q&A Forum.

I understand it can be frustrating when the My Day menu bar icon doesn’t open its panel while using a full-screen app.

On macOS, full-screen apps run in a dedicated Full Screen Space, which can prevent some app-specific menu bar panels like My Day from opening on top, even though the icon remains visible. Other system icons like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth still work normally.

While this behavior is related to how macOS handles full-screen spaces, you can try the following steps to reset internal Outlook settings and ensure you are on the latest version. This sometimes helps when the behavior is improved in updates:

    Disable Connected Experiences:

    • In Outlook, go to Setting (or Preferences) > Privacy
    • Find the Optional Connected Experiences section.
    • Uncheck the option to "Turn on optional connected experiences".

    Clear Application Data:

    • Restart Outlook.
    • Go to the Help > Clear Application Data

    User's image

    • A window will pop up. Make sure you only check the box for "Experimental Features"
    • Click the Clear button.

    Update:

    • Go to Help > Check for Updates.
    • Make sure Outlook is on the latest version, as panel behavior in full-screen may be improved in new releases.

If the troubleshooting steps do not immediately resolve the issue, you can use these viewing modes to ensure My Day works correctly:

    • Use Maximize view instead of Full Screen: Hold the Option key and click the green window button. This fills the screen without creating a separate Space, allowing the My Day panel to open.
    • Use Split View: You can use two apps side-by-side in Split View, which also maintains a less restrictive environment than a single, dedicated Full Screen Space.

Please try these steps and let us know if the panel opens or if you notice any changes after updating.
