Need to reset MFA to add email account to Outlook

I am unable to add my email account to Outlook because Authenticator is not sending me appropriate code. We have tried so many times unsuccessfully that now I am unable to receive emails on that account on any of my devices since last Friday. Help! I am the only administrator and the only way to fix this issue is for Microsoft to reset Authenticator.

thanks

To resolve your issue with adding your email account to Outlook due to problems with the Authenticator app, you will need to reset the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your account. Since you mentioned that you are the only administrator, you should contact Microsoft Product Support to request a reset of MFA for your account. Provide them with your email address so they can assist you effectively.

Additionally, ensure that you have the MFA authentication app (like Auth0 Guardian or Google Authenticator) permanently installed on your device, as it is required for ongoing access to applications that require MFA.

If you have deleted the app or are unable to receive codes, this will need to be addressed through Product Support as well.

Hi Cassandra Bosco, I completely understand how stressful this must be you’ve been locked out of your email for days tried multiple times and now even Outlook setup is blocked because of MFA issues.

If you can still access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. enable a temporary MFA bypass under Authentication Methods to sign in and update your settings then add a backup method like SMS or alternate email to prevent future lockouts remove and re add your account in the Authenticator app by deleting the old method and scanning a new QR code and if you’re completely locked out then use the Microsoft Account Recovery Form to verify your identity and reset MFA before re adding your email account in Outlook.

Are you currently able to access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center at all or are you completely locked out of every sign in attempt?

    Best regards
