Problems with Hotmail Login

I changed my password a few days ago. When I tried to sign in afterward, I received a error message—without having entered the password incorrectly or too many times. Since then, my account has even been locked, and I’ve already tried several times to recover it with the Microsoft tool, where you can give some detail information about the last sent mails etc. Apparently, the answers I provided are not considered sufficient, even though I’m certain I answered the questions correctly and the account is still blocked.

Do I really need to create a new Hotmail account because of this, or is there still another way to regain access?

If you're having trouble accessing your Hotmail account after changing your password and your account is now locked, there are a few steps you can take to try to regain access:

    1. Use the Account Recovery Tool: Since you've already tried this, ensure that you provide as much accurate information as possible. Sometimes, using different details related to your account can help.
    2. Check for Account Lockout: If your account is locked, it may be due to security measures. You might need to wait a certain period before trying to recover it again.
    3. Contact Microsoft Support: If the recovery tool isn’t working, consider reaching out to Microsoft support directly. They may have additional methods to verify your identity and help you regain access.
    4. Create a New Account: If all else fails and you cannot recover your account, creating a new Hotmail account may be necessary. However, this should be a last resort after exhausting all recovery options.

It's important to keep your recovery options updated to avoid similar issues in the future.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

When you mentioned, "I changed my password a few days ago," did you use the "Forgot password" option on account.microsoft.com, or did you change it while you still had access to the account?

Do you have access to the security information/verification methods, phone, or email address linked to the account?

Did you have two-factor authentication (2FA) active on that account? If yes, do you still have the 25-character recovery codes?

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

    Thank you for the information.

The error you received when using your phone number for a password reset — "but when I try to use the phone option, it says that this option is currently unavailable" — and despite a successful password change, the issue persists, which indicates the account is temporarily blocked due to unusual activity.

Kindly perform these steps to resolve the account block:

    1. Perform a password reset using your phone number via InPrivate window or Incognito. Also, try using different devices and network services.
    2. Wait 24 hours, then try recovering the account again, but please make sure not to sign in or reset the password within that timeframe, as this may reset the lock cooldown.
    3. If it doesn't work after 24 hours, try waiting exactly 48 hours before resetting another password reset.
