Sharepoint not restored

I removed some individuals from a Team. During the process a private channel was deleted. First of all I have no idea how this happened. I'm the only one that has access to do this and it did not show in the Teams change logs when I looked to see who deleted it, it didn't even show up as being deleted! I went into Teams and was able to restore the private channel but now all of the files are gone and the Sharepoint is missing. Does it take time to be restored or am I screwed?

Follow-up: It does show now in the audit logs and I found out who it was. I forgot about one other person who had access. But I still need the files and sharepoint restored nonetheless. Please help me.

Hi @Jack Poston ,

Are you storing the contents of Teams in the Site? Do you have permission to access the SharePoint site? You can go to the SharePoint site to check if you can find the file, or check it in the recycle bin in the site.

If you add content to the Teams tag from SharePoint, just removing the tag will not affect storage.

Everything has re-appeared. I was beginning to panic, but when I checked this morning everything had finally populated. The private channel being deleted also deleted the Sharepoint and all the files. When I restored it the files were gone and when I tried to find the Sharepoint it didn't exist anymore. But everything appears to be back to normal. In this particular case it was just a matter of waiting.

Unfortunately I can't answer at this time. I'm getting mixed feedback from my staff about some stuff still missing. Could be user problem. I am concerned though about how the team got deleted in the first place. The logs show a fellow staff member deleting it but they were not logged on at that time. It coincidentally lines up with the exact time that I removed them from the team. If I remove everyone from a private channel does it delete the channel?

Hi @Jack Poston , we are currently providing technical support on SharePoint, so we may be not very familiar with the knowledge of Teams. However per my knowledge, a channel should have an owner, and this owner can be changed. If there are any updates on this issue, do not hesitate let us know. :)

At this point it seems everything has come back. There was a lot of confusion because the user was syncing the Sharepoint with their desktop and when the Sharepoint was deleted it was feared that the items on the desktop would vanish as well. So they attempted to transport everything to their OneDrive before syncing took place. When everything came back the Sharepoint now began to sync with her desktop again and found that some files had been removed from the desktop location so the Sharepoint also removed them. Next thing you know theres stuff everywhere. Some in OneDrive, some in Sharepoint, some in the Sharepoint recycle bin, some on the desktop. I think we have everything back but still don't have an answer to how the Sharepoint was deleted in the first place.

2 years later, I have the exact same issue. I have just restored the Private teams from The Teams client. They are now back but missing the sharepoint site counterpart. Will wait a day or so. I believe this issue is caused if the owner of the private channel was removed from the parent Teams. An audit log says one of the members deleted them but I highly doubt as they are just members and not allowed to create or delete channels. It could also be they delted the synced folder from their file explorer which caused the whole library to be delete. Doesnt explain losing the site though..
