my motherboard is an ASRock B360M Pro4

i downloaded this version

Realtek high definition audio driver ver:6.0.9231.1

https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/B360M%20Pro4/index.asp#Download

but if install it i can't hear anything or my mic go up when i talk into the mic

anyway to fix this i have tried everything like install and reinstall change services.msc and startup app set correctly but nothing seems to work

    Hi,

I’m really sorry about the issue you’re running into. If you have already tried the basic troubleshooting steps, the problem likely lies in the compatibility between the driver package and the required UWP (Universal Windows Platform) app model for your ASRock B360M Pro4 motherboard.

Step 1: Use a Driver Uninstallation Utility (DDU/RAPR) for a Clean Sweep

Basic uninstall via Device Manager sometimes leaves remnants. Using a specialized utility ensures a clean slate.

    1. Disconnect from the Internet to prevent Windows Update from automatically installing a generic driver during the process.
    2. Download and extract a tool like Driver Store Explorer (RAPR) or Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).
    3. Run the utility and remove all Realtek-related audio entries (including components and extensions if using RAPR) under the "Sound, video and game controllers" category.
    4. Shut down your computer (do not restart).
    5. Optional but recommended: Turn off your PC's power supply and unplug the power cable. Open your PC case, unplug and firmly re-plug the HD audio cable that connects your front panel audio jacks to the motherboard.
    6. Plug the PC back in and boot up.

Step 2: Ensure BIOS Audio Settings are Correct

A potential issue is the integrated audio controller being disabled in the BIOS.

    1. Enter your system's BIOS/UEFI (usually by pressing Delete or F2 repeatedly during startup).
    2. Navigate to Advanced settings, then find the Onboard Devices or Integrated Peripherals section.
    3. Ensure that HD Audio Controller (or similar option) is set to Enabled.
    4. Save changes and exit the BIOS to boot into Windows. A generic Microsoft "High Definition Audio Device" should now appear in Device Manager under "Sound, video and game controllers".

Step 3: Install the ASRock-Specific DCH Driver Package

Generic Realtek drivers from the official Realtek site (like the old 6.0.1.8186 version you mentioned) are often incompatible with your motherboard's modern DCH requirement. You must use the one provided by ASRock.

    1. Go to the ASRock B360M Pro4 support page and download the latest Realtek audio driver.
    2. Extract the driver file and run the setup.exe as an administrator.
    3. Follow all prompts and allow the system to restart as required during the installation process.

Step 4: Manually Acquire the UWP Realtek Audio Console App

The driver installation prepares the system for the app, but sometimes the auto-install fails.

    1. After the driver installation is complete and you have restarted, ensure your PC is connected to the internet.
    2. Open the Microsoft Store app.
    3. The correct Realtek Audio Console UWP app specific to your ASRock motherboard should be detected and install automatically.
    4. If it does not, manually navigate to the Realtek Audio Console page on the Microsoft Store and click Get or Install.

Step 5: Advanced RPC Service Troubleshooting (If the Error Persists)

If you still receive the "Could not connect to RPC service" error, you may have corrupted registry entries.

    1. Press Windows Key + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}.
    3. Look for any values named UpperFilters or LowerFilters on the right pane.
    4. Right-click and delete these specific values (only these two; be careful not to delete anything else).
    5. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Step 6: System File Checker (SFC) and DISM

Corrupted system files can sometimes interfere with audio services.

    1. Press Windows Key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows Terminal (Admin).
    2. Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each one:
      • sfc /scannow
      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    3. Wait for both scans to complete and restart your computer.

Following these steps should ensure a full, clean installation of the correct DCH driver model required by your motherboard and resolve the RPC service connectivity issues for the

    Realtek Audio Console.

Hope that this additional steps helps out.

    Kind regards,

To resolve the issues you're experiencing with your Realtek audio driver, you can try the following steps:

    1. Install the Latest Driver: Ensure that you have the latest Realtek High Definition Audio driver installed. You mentioned downloading version 6.0.9231.1; make sure to uninstall the previous version before installing this one. You can do this through Device Manager:
      • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
      • Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
      • Right-click on your Realtek audio device and select Uninstall device. Check the option to delete the driver software if prompted.
      • Restart your computer and then install the new driver.
    2. Check Audio Settings: After installing the driver, check your audio settings:
      • Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Sounds.
      • Go to the Playback tab, ensure your speakers are set as the default device, and test them.
      • Go to the Recording tab and ensure your microphone is set up correctly.
    3. Run the Audio Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix audio problems:
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
      • Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.
    4. Check Services: Since you mentioned changing services, ensure that the following services are set to Automatic and are running:
      • Windows Audio
      • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    5. Realtek Audio Console: If the Realtek Audio Console is still showing errors, try reinstalling it or checking for updates specific to the console from the ASRock website.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to ASRock support for further assistance, as they may have specific drivers or solutions for your motherboard model.
