Within the File Explorer, I am running into issues with my drag and drop. When i am trying to drag a file into a folder, the icon is so large that it makes it very difficult to see where it is being dropped to. While I can cut/paste this is extremely irritating and inefficient.

I've changed my scaling to 100%, restarted, I've reset my File Explorer... I'm on a work computer so i cannot sfc / scan in command prompt, and there aren't any options within settings to adjust drag and drop settings...

Whoever thought that having the icons that large was a good idea needs to be fired... whoever decided users shouldn't have control of the drag and drop functions needs to be fired...

Is there a fix? I've looked online and everything listed doesn't work. Since it's a work computer installing another file browsing system is not an option...

To customize the drag and drop UI in your application, you can use the DragEventArgs.DragUIOverride property to set custom captions and glyphs. However, if you are experiencing issues with the size of the drag and drop icons in File Explorer specifically, there may not be a direct way to adjust this through standard settings or properties, especially on a work computer where administrative privileges may be limited.

If the icons are excessively large, it might be related to the system's display settings or the specific configuration of the File Explorer. Here are a few suggestions you might consider:

    1. Check Display Settings: Ensure that your display settings are set to a scaling that works for you. Sometimes, adjusting the resolution or scaling can impact how elements are displayed.
    2. Reset File Explorer Settings: You mentioned you have reset File Explorer, but ensure that you have also checked for any updates or additional settings that could affect its behavior.
    3. Feedback to IT: Since you are on a work computer, it might be worth discussing this issue with your IT department. They may have specific configurations or policies in place that could be affecting the drag and drop functionality.

Unfortunately, without the ability to install third-party applications or perform system scans, your options may be limited. If the issue persists, consider providing feedback to Microsoft through the Feedback Hub, as user feedback can influence future updates and features.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

If your icons are overly large try clicking on the View option in the folder and see if you can adjust the size of the icons there. However, as you mentioned that you're using a work laptop you may want to speak with your IT department in case it's an issue between the OS and the work environment.
