Hello Everyone,

We are planning to upgrade SCCM to new SQL database server likely 2019 before it gets out of support. Our current SCCM db server has three node cluster with two Ag's group setup.

Current Windows server is Windows server 2012 R2 and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP4-GDR) (KB4532098) - 11.0.7493.4 (X64) Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.3 <X64> (Build 9600: ) (Hypervisor)

Could you please share me steps on how to proceed with SCCM migration with three node cluster and two Availability group on it? How's its gonna impact Ag's group?

Also, would it be in-place upgrade or side by side upgrade? Currently all SCCM databases are setup with Ag's group enabled with three node cluster.

Please share detailed steps as well.

Thanks & Regards,
Ken

    Hi @Ken ,

Suggest you using in-place upgrade. But you need to using rolling upgrade. Upgrade the two secondary replicas, then do a manually failover and upgrade the old primary replica. refer to MS document Upgrading Always On Availability Group Replica Instances to get more.
