If you have 22H2 installed currently it is out of support so will not update via windows update. You should go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 and use the Installation Assistant. That should bring your system right up to date. It will prompt to check hardware first though.

2026-05-29T14:58:10.0966667+00:00 There is no upgrade path from 22H2 to 24 or 25H2. I had to purchase a new OS. It was very hard to get that info as 22H2 is no longer supported, I know not EOL just EOS. So, Windows Upgrade in my OS had nothing to say to me. Eventually, I gave up and just bought a new OS. I wish that Microsoft was more upfront about these paid upgrades. I spent days looking for an answer.

2026-05-29T15:58:44.5166667+00:00 @Timmo Rose There was no need to pay. Microsoft supply the tools and software to update from one version to another. It does not require a new licence (which is what you pay for) unless the hardware is changed and the original licence is locked to the original hardware.
It may be that update via windows update won't work when the operating system is out of support but there are other methods to carry out the update.

Please, share the details of your hardware. Generally speaking if you have the 22h2 version installed, you will be able to update to 24h2, but if you give me the hardware details or the notebook model, i can check this for you.
Ps. Do you see the 24h2 suggested in windows update?
