If you are experiencing issues with Microsoft Word not opening files after inserting your subscription key, there are a few potential causes and solutions you can try:

    1. Error Messages: If you are receiving specific error messages when attempting to open Word files, it would be helpful to identify those messages. Common errors include issues related to file corruption or problems with file validation.
    2. File Validation Issues: If you see an error message stating that "Office has detected a problem with this file," it may be due to Office File Validation detecting a potential security risk. In this case, moving the file to a trusted location may resolve the issue. Trusted locations allow files to be opened without security checks.
    3. Repairing Files: If the files are damaged, you can try to open them using the "Open and Repair" option in Word. To do this:
      • Start Word and go to the File tab.
      • Select Open > Browse to locate the damaged file.
      • Select the file, then choose Open from the menu and select Open and Repair.
    4. File Path Length: Ensure that the file path and name do not exceed the character limits imposed by Microsoft Office. For Word, the total length should not exceed 259 characters.
    5. Reinstallation: If the problem persists, consider reinstalling Microsoft Office to ensure that all components are properly configured.

If you continue to face issues, please provide the specific error message you are encountering for more targeted assistance.

    Hi @Nitinkumar Karia

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. I’ve reviewed your case, and here are two approaches I’d like you to try:

    1.Repair the Office Application

Start by repairing your Office installation. You can perform a Quick Repair, and if the issue persists, try an Online Repair. Please follow the steps in this guide: Repair an Office application - Microsoft Support

2.Roll back to a previous Office version

    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator
    • Run this command:
    cd %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\

    OfficeC2RClient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.19231.20156

    User's image

This will download and install the previous stable version of Office. Wait for the update to complete. Once finished, restart Word and check if the issue is resolved.

Please let me know the outcome after trying these steps. If the issue still persists, kindly update me in the comments so I can review the situation and explore further options together.

Thank you for your patience and collaboration. I’m here if you need any additional assistance!
