To log into the Microsoft Authenticator app after getting a new phone, you will need to re-register your account. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Install the Authenticator App: Make sure you have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your new phone.
    2. Sign In to Security Info: Open a browser on your mobile device or desktop and go to Security info.
    3. Add Authenticator as a Sign-in Method: Register the Authenticator app as your sign-in method. This will link your Massey ID account to the app again.
    4. Follow the Prompts: After linking, follow the prompts in the Authenticator app to complete the setup.
    5. Use Temporary Access Pass: If your organization allows it, you may also use a Temporary Access Pass to authenticate and set up the app.

Once you have set up the Authenticator app, you should be able to approve the sign-in request for your Massey ID and access the learning platform.

If you encounter any issues, ensure that you have internet access and that the app is updated to the latest version.

You have effectively lost your old phone if you bought a new one and replaced it, resetting the old one to clear it made that old phone unusable, so authenticator needs to be set up again from scratch on the new phone.

The problem is that you can't do this without contacting your school's IT support, since they must reset your school account's MFA settings to allow you to login and force the setup of the new authenticator.

Here's the page for what I believe is your school's IT support that describes this requirement further down that page under the section I've pasted below. If the link within the text here doesn't work, go instead directly to the support page and click it there instead.

How to log in if you don't have your phone, or if you have lost your phone

Contact IT support to get back into your account

If you have lost your phone please report it immediately to Te Paepoto, our national contact centre.

We will clear your device and its registration settings, so you will be prompted to register for multi-factor authentication again the next time you log in.
