The surface issue: On meeting room computers with multiple AD accounts logged in, some people can use the Jabra PanaCast50 camera normally in Teams—like me—but most cannot. However, the Jabra camera works fine in other software. If we switch to another camera device, it also works normally in Teams. Therefore, I suspect the issue arises specifically when Teams and the Jabra PanaCast50 are used together.
I am the IT person at our company. About a month ago, I received similar feedback: in Meeting Room A, the camera couldn't be used in Teams. The user asked me to check it after their meeting. I went to the meeting room, logged into the computer with my AD account, and then logged into my Teams—everything worked normally. At the time, I thought it might be a user error, so I didn’t investigate further. Until yesterday, I received two more reports: in both Meeting Room A and Meeting Room B, the Jabra PanaCast50 camera couldn’t be used in Teams. That’s when I confirmed there was indeed an issue.
We conducted the following tests:
1、On the computer in Meeting Room A, I logged in with my AD account and accessed my Teams without any additional steps—everything worked normally.
2、On the same computer in Meeting Room A, I logged in with two other colleagues’ AD accounts and accessed their respective Teams—the camera didn’t work. I confirmed that all three of us have the same permissions on this computer.
3、We tried disconnecting and reconnecting the camera’s power, and pressed the reset button to initialize the settings—still no success.
4、We tested the camera in other software like Zoom, WeChat, and Slack—it worked fine. It even worked when logging into Teams via the web browser. The issue only occurs in the Teams desktop application.
5、Reinstalling the latest version of Teams didn’t change anything.
6、On the same computer, we tried other camera devices was immediately recognized in Teams. But when we reconnected the Panacast 50, it stopped working again.
7、We tested the Panacast 50 on other computers: it worked on a Dell laptop, but didn’t work on a Dell 5820 workstation or a 7865 workstation.
8、This morning, we found a temporary fix: go to Windows 11 Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera > Camera Devices, enter the Panacast 50 settings, and under Advanced Settings, check the option "Allow multiple apps to simultaneously use the camera." This resolved the issue. However, this is a per-user setting and doesn’t apply system-wide. This means I’d have to do this for every employee when they log into the meeting room computer, which is not practical. Moreover, I don’t think this is a fundamental solution.
9、We contacted Jabra support, but so far, they haven’t provided any effective suggestions and referred us to Microsoft support.
10、We updated all upgradable drivers from the Dell website.
So far, I haven’t found any meaningful commonality. I’m hoping someone can help me resolve this.
