We are distributing our updates via SCCM/WSUS and currently have the problem that on some Windows 10 workstations, no more commulative updates can be installed.

Before the user logs on, the installation is aborted at 8% and the rollback is performed.

We were able to narrow down the rollback of this behaviour in the CBS.log to the extent that the behaviour is caused by usbser.inf.

Here is an excerpt:

2021-09-21 16:48:39, Info CBS INSTALL index: 1107, phase: 1, result 1359, inf: usbser.inf

Furthermore, we were able to determine that Doge (whatever that is) cannot assign an owner to usbser.inf.

We ask for your help, at the moment we have deactivated the update Deoployment completely, so that the employees do not have delayed logins anymore.

    Hi @Vista IT ,

Please install these commulative updates manually on the issued windows 10 workstations to check if it succeed.

Besides, we may try to disable the third party security software and firewalls, perform a clean boot and try to install the standalone package of the update and check and re-deploy the update.

    Hi Amanda

Thank you for asking. Much appreciated.

We have tried all the suggestions, unfortunately unsuccessfully. The problem persists.

Can you please take a look at the attached cbs.log (I had to split it because of the upload size). Do you see anything unusual there?

    Best regards

    Hello Amanda

We could not find any abnormalities in the WindowsUpdate.log. Can you find anything suspicious there?

I will also ask the question in the link you suggested, as 250 clients are currently affected and updates are still disabled.

    Best regards
