Have member number <removed> paid 4/10/25. When using Word, doesn't know I have subscription. Keeps asking me to sign up. Evidently a disconnect. What am I doing wrong? Is the account I'm using not the one connected to member number? What do I need to do to access my subscription? Help please.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with Microsoft Word not recognizing your subscription associated with your member number. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Sign Out and Sign Back In: Open Word, select your name or profile picture at the top, sign out, and then sign back in using the account that is linked to your subscription. Ensure you are using your Work or School account, not a personal Microsoft account.
    2. Check Your Subscription Status: Go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and check if your subscription is active. If it isn't, you may need to reactivate it.
    3. Verify Account Connection: Make sure that the account you are using in Word is the same one associated with your member number. If you have multiple accounts, it’s possible you are signed in with the wrong one.
    4. Update Microsoft 365: Ensure your Microsoft 365 apps are up to date. You can check for updates by opening Word, going to File > Account, and selecting Update options > Update now.
    5. Reset Activation State: If the issue persists, you may need to reset the activation state for Microsoft 365 Apps. You can find instructions on how to do this in the Microsoft support documentation.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider contacting your Microsoft 365 administrator for further assistance or checking the Microsoft Community for additional help.

    Hi Tricia,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft community and sharing what’s happening. It sounds like Word isn’t recognizing your Microsoft 365 subscription even though you’ve already paid and have your member number.

This usually happens when the account you’re signed into on Word isn’t the same one linked to your subscription.

To fix this, first check which account is signed in on Word by going to File > Account and looking at the email under “Product Information.”

If it’s not the right one, sign out and log in with the correct Microsoft account.

Next, visit account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the account you think is connected to your subscription.

Make sure your Microsoft 365 plan shows as active. If it does and Word still doesn’t recognize it, try updating the license or reactivating Office from the Account page in Word.

If you have more than one Microsoft account, like personal, work, or school, your subscription might be on a different one. Check your purchase history on the Microsoft Services page or look at the email address on your receipt from April 10, 2025. Compare that with the account signed into Word.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Edward
