Hello. I need assistance with removing an administrator from my laptop. For context before I joined the company someone else set up the laptop for me and has since left the company. Every time I need to install something it asks for the administrator password

    To remove an administrator from your laptop, you can follow these steps using the Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) Management Console if your setup involves App-V. Here’s how:

    1. Open the Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) Management Console.
    2. In the navigation pane, select Administrators. This will display a list of users and groups that currently have administrative access.
    3. Right-click the account you want to remove from the list of administrators.
    4. Select Remove to delete the administrator account.

    If you are not using App-V or if you need to remove a built-in administrator account, you can also use the following method:

    1. Open the Settings app on your Windows 11 laptop.
    2. Navigate to Accounts > Family & other users.
    3. Under the Other users section, find the account you wish to remove.
    4. Click on the account and select Remove.
    5. Confirm the removal by selecting Delete account and data.

    Make sure you have the necessary permissions to perform these actions, as removing an administrator account may require administrative privileges.

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Please clarify the following:

    Is the laptop joined to a corporate domain (Active Directory or Azure AD)?

    If not, confirm if your account is in the administrators group.

    1. Press "Windows + R", type netplwiz and click Ok;
    2. Under "Users of this computer", select your user and click on "Properties";
    3. Select the "Group Membership" tab, and see if your account user is in the Administrators group.

    I await your reply.
