My Azure Sign-in failed. I got the error code AADSTS5000225 - Tenant has been blocked due to inactivity

I tried using my Microsoft 365 account to log in to Azure but had a Sign-in failed error with error code AADSTS5000225 - Tenant has been blocked due to inactivity.

Then I decided to sign up for an Azure free account. I filled in the required details and even got a registration confirmation from Azure with a login link but was unable to sign in as I got the same error as above. Kindly help.

I have reached out to Microsoft support but they directed me here saying this is where it can be resolved! I am the administrator of the account and I need to use Azure to learn and write my certifications. Kindly help. Thank you.

The error you received (AADSTS5000225) means your tenant has been marked as inactive. When a tenant is inactive for a long time, Microsoft applies a login block. If the block lasts more than 20 days, the tenant may be permanently deleted.

Tenant inaccessible due to inactivity

If the block has been in place for less than 20 days, we may be able to restore access by unblocking it. Please provide the following details via private message:

Tenant ID

Email ID you are trying to sign in to portal

Correlation ID from the login failure

Timestamp of the failure

Business impact and reason for restoring the tenant

Note: If this is a test or non-critical tenant, you can create a new one: Quickstart: Create a new tenant in Microsoft Entra ID

What do you mean inactive please? I have an annual Microsoft 365 subscription that I am currently using. But what actually need is access to Azure so I can learn and write my Microsoft Azure exams.

Are you refering to the last tenant i had years ago when I used Azure? Kindly help. Thank you

I do not understand how the tenant can be permanently deleted and I still have a Microsoft 365 annual subscription. What do I do please as this is very confusing. Thank you

Hello Adeola Adefolaju,

As discussed over private messages, please login to Azure with the tenant specific endpoint and pass the tenant ID I provided.

https://portal.azure.com/TenantID

And you will be able to access Azure portal.
