I am trying to verify my new email address to make it a primary for my current PC and it shows it cannot verify since it is associated with a different Microsoft account which is not deleted yet? If I delete the other account and then add the email, I want to use will the problem go away and can I delete my other email account quicker?

If you delete the other Microsoft account that is associated with the email address you want to use, it should resolve the verification issue when you try to make that email your primary address. However, the speed at which you can delete the account may depend on various factors such as account activity or specific policies in place.

To delete a Microsoft account, you typically need to follow the standard deletion process, which may involve confirming your identity and ensuring that there are no outstanding subscriptions or services linked to that account.

Once the account is deleted, you should be able to add the email address as your primary email without any issues.

    Hi,

If you’re talking about a Microsoft account email domain, it cannot be used again. Based on Microsoft’s rules, if you delete an alias or an account that’s an email address tied to a Microsoft account (such as @outlook.com, @live.com, @hotmail.com, or @msn.com), it cannot be added back as a new account or alias. This means it will no longer be available as an alias or new account for you or anyone else in the future. That is why it will always say the account is associated with another Microsoft account, even though it was already deleted.

On the other hand, if the alias belonged to another domain (not @outlook.com, @live.com, @hotmail.com, or @msn.com), the policy may differ. This will depend on the email provider, too. For example, after deleting a proxy/alias email address from a user mailbox in Office 365, you can immediately reuse that same name to create a shared mailbox, but sometimes it may take 30 days.
