For a couple months now my volume has been acting funny. Randomly the volume bar just pops up not even changing anything just sitting at 100 like i normally leave it at. A second later it pops up again sliding back to 97 or so and back up. Next minute it slides up dropping to 70 or lower or higher and it continuously acts up in this manner again and again starting over the cycle every so often. I tried everything a browser tells you to. I updated audio drivers played around in sound settings, complex sound settings, troubleshooters. Nothing has worked up till this point. Restarting hasn't paid off either. I don't believe it to be discord I checked that to I have a USB plug in headset w/ mic turned off so it can't be that. Is it possible that my pc could just be dusty? I have a CyberPower PC about a year or 2 old. Please reach out if you have a clue on how to solve. I figure reddit isn't the app to ask. The issue you are experiencing with random volume changes on your Windows 11 PC could be related to several factors. Here are some potential causes and solutions:

    1. Audio Drivers: Ensure that your audio drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated or corrupt drivers can cause erratic behavior. You mentioned that you've updated them, but it might be worth reinstalling them completely.
    2. Audio Settings: Check your audio settings in Windows. Sometimes, enhancements or specific configurations can lead to unexpected volume changes. You can try disabling any audio enhancements in the sound settings.
    3. USB Devices: Since you are using a USB headset, ensure that there are no issues with the USB connection. Try unplugging the headset and see if the problem persists. Also, check if other USB devices are causing interference.
    4. Software Conflicts: Applications that control audio settings, such as Discord or other communication tools, can sometimes interfere with volume levels. Ensure that these applications are not set to adjust your audio settings automatically.
    5. Hardware Issues: Dust or hardware malfunctions can also cause issues. While it’s less common, if your PC is dusty, it might be worth cleaning it out to ensure that all components are functioning properly.
    6. Registry Settings: There might be registry settings that are affecting your audio. If you're comfortable modifying the registry, you can check for any unusual settings related to audio.

If none of these solutions work, you may want to consider reaching out to CyberPower support or checking forums for similar issues with your specific model.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

You might experience this problem if drivers are no longer working properly or are corrupted.

    1 Reinstall Audio drivers.

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Expand the arrow next to Sound, Video, and game controllers.
    • Right-click your default audio driver (e.g. Realtek R), select Uninstall device, select the Attempt to remove the driver for this device check box, and then select Uninstall.
    • Once uninstalled, restart your PC.
    • Check the audio output.

    2 Clean Boot Environment.

Start your PC in a clean boot environment to identify if any third-party applications or services are causing this issue.

If you're still having issues, type msinfo in the search bar on the taskbar and click Enter.

Post a screenshot of the resulting dialog box.

    Hi FGaleano,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

Do you have any devices with volume knob?

After long time using, the knob may have bad contacts inside and may lead to volume adjustment randomly.

I hope that above information is helpful to you.
