Suddenly all of my New emails are going directly to my "deleted" file folder. Can you tell me how to correct the filter or reset my account so that all new emails either go into Junk or into the Inbox?

If your new emails are being automatically moved to the Deleted Items folder, it may be due to the use of the Ignore feature in Microsoft Outlook. When you select Ignore on an email message, Outlook deletes that message and tracks all future emails related to it, moving them to the Deleted Items folder as well.

    To resolve this issue:

    1. Check if you have mistakenly used the Ignore feature on any email threads. If so, you can stop ignoring the thread by selecting the ignored message and choosing the option to unignore it.
    2. If the issue persists, you may want to check your filtering options in Outlook to ensure that no filters are set that could be affecting where your emails are delivered.

    To change the filtering options:

    • For Outlook 2010 and later versions:
      1. Select the View tab in the ribbon.
      2. In the Current View area, select View Settings.
      3. Select Filter and review the settings to ensure nothing is filtering out your new emails.

If you need to reset your account settings, you might consider recreating your Outlook profile, which can help in resolving various issues related to email delivery.

    Hi Wendy-Larry,

Thank you for sharing your question. I understand how annoying it is when all your new emails skip your Inbox and head straight to the Deleted Items folder. It is usually because of one of these things.

You've got a rule or filter moving stuff to Deleted Items.

Someone might have gotten into your account and set up rules to trash your mail.

Your spam settings or some app is messing things up.

    Please follow these steps.

Check your rules: In Outlook Web, go to Settings > Mail > Rules (or in Outlook on your computer, File > Manage Rules & Alerts). Trash any rule that sends emails to Deleted Items.

Look at your spam settings: Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email and double-check your safe senders list.

Lock down your account: Head to account.microsoft.com/security and check what's been happening lately. If you see logins you don't recognize, change your password ASAP and turn on two-step verification.

Turn off other apps: If you're using apps linked to your Outlook account, try disconnecting them for a bit and see if that fixes it.

I hope this answer is helpful, if you have any questions, feel free to reply.

    Best Regards,

    Noel
