Dear @Beaver, Adam Scott,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand you’d like to use the Developer tab in Word Online for tasks like adding drop-down lists to rubrics, and you’re asking if this feature will be added in the future.
At this time, Word for the web (Word Online) does not include the Developer tab or support advanced features such as content controls, macros, or VBA scripting. These capabilities are available only in the Word desktop application for Windows and Mac.
Word Online is designed for lightweight editing and collaboration in the browser. Advanced developer tools require functionality that is currently only supported in the desktop environment.
Alternatives you can use now
- Create and edit documents with the Developer tab in the Word desktop app, then save them to OneDrive or SharePoint for easy access and sharing online.
- Use form fields or tables in Word Online as a basic workaround for structured input.
