To upgrade from Microsoft 365 Personal to Microsoft 365 Business, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Purchase a Microsoft 365 Business subscription: You can do this through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Make sure to select the appropriate business plan that meets your needs.
    2. Assign licenses: Once you have purchased the business subscription, you will need to assign licenses to your users. If you are the only user, you will assign the license to yourself.
    3. Migrate your data: You may want to migrate your data from your personal account to your new business account. This includes files in OneDrive, emails, contacts, and calendar items.

For detailed steps on migrating data and managing your subscriptions, you can refer to the Microsoft documentation on upgrading and changing plans.

The Microsoft365 Business and Personal platforms are quite different although the names sound similar. Their backends are totally different and setting up M365 Business is not just a "migration", but setting up a productivity system that is really designed around a business. For example, email instead of running on outlook.com, its running on Exchange online, and OneDrive is a different version called OneDrive for Business running on SharePoint.

This includes for example acquiring a business email domain line contoso.com, verifying it with Microsoft that you own it, then setting up that domain to point its MX records to Microsoft so emails can be delivered to your mailbox in M365.

This also involves setting up other DNS records on your domain so you can get Microsoft Teams to work.

So its not just a simple "how can I migrate" conversation.

One way to make this simple is to get the assistance of someone familiar with M365 to assist you where you are, and also provide some training on how to get the most out of the platform.

Of course if you are tech savvy there are also lots of guidance here and online.

Do come back if you have further questions
