Trying to extend the D: partition, and trying to create a new simple volume on the unallocated space is always be met with that error.

Maybe related: Disk 1 used to be a Basic drive, but when I tried to extend that partition, it just converted itself into a Dynamic.

    Hi ,

Well, if I'm not mistaken, the error with a dynamic disk would require recreating the drive as a basic drive with the unallocated space. However, I recommend trying to extend it using MiniTool Partition Wizard (free).

See if it gives the error when extending.

Be careful, select the "extend" option and not "recreate," otherwise it will format the D: drive.

If you only have games on that drive, I recommend recreating the entire partition using diskpart.

However, you would have to back up your important files.

Give feedback if the information was useful or not.

    Thanks

You can use NIUBI Partition Editor (free) to convert the disk to Basic without data loss*.

Convert a Dynamic disk to Basic (using Freeware) without Losing Data

    *Important:

I'd highly recommend backing up the data before trying the above.
