Can't sign in to Microsoft work account, I'm the only admin, I never setup Authenticator

Hey everybody,

When I try signing into my work account it asks me for an authenticator code... but I never setup authenticator.

I'm locked out, I need help getting back in.

I tried to setup authenticator, but I need to be signed in for that.

I also tried creating a normal support ticket, but I need to sign in for that too.

I'm the only user, and therefore the only admin in my organization.

A bit of background: I registered this account as a company developer account in the Microsoft Partner Center, paid the $99 USD joining fee, and launched my app a few months ago.

I tried signing in today for the first time in a while it asked me for an authenticator code for the first time ever.

What can I do now? This company developer account is valuable to the company.

Thanks.

    Hi @Joshua Redmond

Thank you for reaching out via the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on the information you provided, I understand that you are the sole administrator of your organization's work account. You are currently locked out because the system is prompting for an Authenticator code that you never set up.

Here are the two methods you can use to regain access:

-Contact Support via Phone. When you reach an agent, kindly explain that your tenant is currently blocked and you do not have access to it. Request that the agent create a support ticket on behalf of the blocked tenant, as you are unable to do so yourself.

-Set up a temporary Microsoft 365 tenant using a trial license: Microsoft 365 Business Plans and Pricing | Microsoft 365 > Click Try for free to set up a temporary Microsoft 365 tenant with a trial license.

Use this new account to sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and submit a support request on behalf of your primary (locked) account. Navigate to Help & Support > Create a support request.

To prevent similar issues in the future, I strongly recommend assigning at least two Global Administrators to your Microsoft 365 tenant with different authentication methods. This ensures that if one admin is locked out or unavailable, the other can still manage and recover access to the account.

I hope the details provided will assist you effectively
