Orphaned domain provisioning issue with Microsoft 365

Hello,

My business domain (that I own) was purchased through Microsoft 365 (Wild West Domains). The nameservers are already pointed to:

ns1.bdm.microsoftonline.com

ns2.bdm.microsoftonline.com

I cannot log into GoDaddy or Wild West Domains because no customer account was created for me through the Microsoft purchase process.

Microsoft 365 detects that DNS hosting is on Microsoft 365, but will not allow me to add the TXT verification record required to complete the setup. This prevents verification, and verification cannot proceed without DNS edits.

I now understand that is the known orphaned domain provisioning issue where Microsoft 365 creates the domain but does not allow DNS edits until forced verification is done by Support.

Please I need Microsoft to run the forced domain verification and unlock DNS editing for so I can complete setup. I've tried contacting Microsoft in 5 different ways in the past hour.

I would love to reach out to Microsoft but Microsoft 365 business currently gives no option to message / email / or open a ticket with Microsoft. The phone number redirects you to this same chatbot page. There is no option except for the chatbot. Please give me the ability to message Microsoft directly.

Hi Lauren Peck, I know this is frustrating you’ve done everything right yet you’re stuck in a loop where Microsoft detects the domain but won’t let you verify it

To fix the orphaned domain issue, open a support ticket in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and ask for forced domain verification and DNS unlock. Include proof of ownership, your Tenant ID, and screenshots showing Microsoft-hosted DNS with no edit option. Explain that you can’t add the TXT record because the domain already uses Microsoft nameservers and you have no registrar login, and request that support either adds the TXT internally or bypasses verification. If the domain is stuck in another tenant, ask them to release it. Once verified and unlocked, confirm DNS is Microsoft-managed and add your mail flow records.

In your Admin Center under Setup Domains does it show Added but not verified with DNS hosted by Microsoft or does it say “Domain already in another organization?

    Best regards
