Hello.

I have been playing my Flight Simulator for years but recently got a new Desktop. I reinstalled the app the old-fashioned way (how I knew how to do it) and downloaded the cd's one by one and after 6 hours of downloads I was asked to put in the redemption code but I accidentally put a wrong number in and now nothing is working. I have the app downloaded but when I try to open it just asks if I will allow the app to make changes to my computer and when I click yes nothing happens. My daughter tried helping and downloaded it again via the gaming center but when we try clicking on the game nothing happens either. We have tried putting the code in again but it says it is already redeemed. I have it downloaded to my computer and can see it in the gaming center but it won't open for me. Please help, thank you.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your Flight Simulator after entering the wrong redemption code. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that both your Gaming Services and Xbox App are up to date. You can do this by checking in the Add or Remove Programs section in your settings. If they are not up to date, you can update them using PowerShell commands:
      • For Gaming Services:
             get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
             start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

      • For Xbox App:
             get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxApp | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
             start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9mv0b5hzvk9z

    2. Ensure You Are in the RETAIL Sandbox: If you are in a development sandbox, you may not have access to the Xbox App or the game. Make sure you switch to the RETAIL sandbox.
    3. Reinstall the Game: If the game still does not open, try uninstalling and reinstalling it. This can sometimes resolve issues related to corrupted installations.
    4. Check Game Configuration: Ensure that your MicrosoftGame.config file has the correct IDs configured. This includes StoreId, Identity/Name, Identity/Publisher, TitleId, SCID, and MSAAppId. You can find these values in the Partner Center under your game settings.
    5. Contact Support: If none of the above steps work, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance, as they can provide more specific help related to your account and game.

Following these steps should help you resolve the issue with your Flight Simulator not opening after entering the wrong security code.

    Hi,

I'm so sorry that you're having this problem. If you input the wrong redemption code and it said the code had already been redeemed, it meant that the game's license is now tied to the Microsoft account you were using at the time. The problems you're having with the game not opening are probably because the installation on your new PC is broken.

Also, a comprehensive clean sweep makes sure that no damaged configuration files or corrupted data from past attempts are left behind to mess up the new installation when traditional repair tools don't work. this really helped me.

How to do a clean reinstall

To completely reinstall Microsoft Flight Simulator, go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Microsoft Flight Simulator, click the three dots, and choose Uninstall. Then, open File Explorer, type %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages, find the Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe folder (the name may be different), and delete it to get rid of any leftover data. You can also get a cleaner reset by pressing Windows + R, running wsreset.exe, and clearing the Microsoft Store cache. After that, restart your computer, open the Xbox software, make sure you're logged in with the right Microsoft account, and then reinstall the game from your library.

I hope this helps. Leave a comment if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
