    Hello,

I personally use libreoffice and openoffice, they are free and do not require a subscription or payment. They can also save into file formats that are accepted into popular platforms like ms office or google docs.

    Hope this helps,

    JC

Microsoft donates Office 365 to schools, and it's free to their students. It may not necessarily include the desktop version. Check with your school's IT department.

If your school isn't providing you free Office 365, you can sign up for 1 free year if you have a school email address. After the year is over, the charge is only $4.99 per month. It includes both the web and desktop versions.

    Adding to what JC stated,

You can also get WPS for free. This is a web version, and it might not do everything you may want. But you can give it a try,

To some extent, life is unfair. Office and Word involve a substantial effort and I think they deserve compensation for that. I do not work for Microsoft and I am not a fan of everything they do.

JC has pointed you to free software that may meet your needs.

I understand your frustration regarding the costs associated with using Microsoft Word. Unfortunately, adding watermarks in Word for the web is limited; while they display in View mode, they appear as placeholders in Edit mode and cannot be edited or resized. If you need to add a watermark, you would typically need to use the desktop version of Word, which may require a subscription.

If cost is a significant concern, you might consider exploring free alternatives to Microsoft Word that can handle document creation with watermarking capabilities. Some popular free word processing software includes:

    • Google Docs: A free, web-based word processor that allows you to create and edit documents online. You can add text watermarks by adjusting the background or using images.
    • LibreOffice Writer: A free, open-source word processor that offers many features similar to Microsoft Word, including the ability to add watermarks.
    • WPS Office Writer: A free office suite that includes a word processor with watermarking features.

These alternatives can help you complete your assignments without incurring additional costs.
