Hi,

I have just purchased Microsoft Office 2024 for my Mac only to find that it required MacOS 14 and mine is 12.2.6. My current version 1s 16.16.27... If I cannot get 2024, is there a way that I can get a more recent version as I have a number of bugs in Outlook and Excel.

If the above is not possible, then could I please get a refund of the purchase I have just made (19 December 2025)

Thanks

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Microsoft 365 for Mac, Office 2024 for Mac, and Office 2021 for Mac support the three most recent major versions of Apple’s macOS.

As of September 2025, those versions are macOS Tahoe, macOS Sequoia, and macOS Sonoma.

In this situation, you can download an older version of the Office packages from the Update History page, which will work on your device.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac

If you're running macOS 12 (Monterey), you can run Office 16.88. At the History page, look for the Office Suite Installer, without Teams.

For Ventura MAC OS 13, (Ventura) you can run Office 16.100.

Download the full installer, not the separate package.

Install the Office packages and sign in with your Microsoft account to use Office. Ensure you remove all previous Office apps from the Applications folder before installing older versions.

If you need a newer version released after August 13, 2024 (version 16.88, build 24081116 - this was the last version that is supported for MAC OS 12), you’ll need to update your macOS. If you would prefer a refund instead, please contact Microsoft Support.

If you purchased Office from the Apple App Store, you’ll need to contact Apple Support for a refund.

Let me know if you still need more help.
