Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that your audio suddenly stops working. Please check your Output Device first. Sometimes Windows switches the audio output automatically after an update. Make sure the correct speakers/headphones are selected.
Next, please make sure you run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter. This can automatically detect and repair audio issues. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and run Playing Audio.
If your issue persists, press Win + R, type services.msc. Find and restart these services:
- Windows Audio
- Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
Finally, reinstall the Audio Driver. Press Win + X > Device Manager. Expand Sound, video and game controllers. Then right‑click your audio device > Uninstall device and restart your PC to reinstall the driver automatically.
For CD Playback issues, you need one of the following to run it:
- Windows Media Player (new) from Microsoft Store
- Windows Media Player Legacy (enable in Optional Features)
- Or any trusted third‑party media player (e.g., VLC)
If the CD still won’t play automatically, open the media app first and try playing the disc from inside the app.
