You can change your display name in your Microsoft account, and Azure (including Azure AI, Azure Portal, Azure ML Studio, etc.) will automatically reflect the updated name. Here’s the correct and safe way to do it:

How to Change Your Name in Your Microsoft / Azure Account

Azure uses your Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) identity. Depending on whether this is a personal Microsoft account or a work account the steps differ.

If you are using a personal Microsoft account

(Example: outlook.com / hotmail.com / live.com login)

Steps

1. Go to: https://account.microsoft.com/profile
2. Sign in.
3. Under Your Info, click Edit name.
4. Update First name and Last name.
5. Save changes.

Azure will sync this automatically.

If you are using a work account (company/ company Entra ID).

Only your IT / Entra ID administrator can change your name. Normal users cannot change their own display name in Microsoft Entra ID.

Steps for a work account

1. Contact your organization's IT/Identity admin.
2. Ask them to update your name in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD):
   • Go to portal.azure.com
   • Open Microsoft Entra ID
   • Go to Users
   • Select your user profile
   • Edit Name / Display name
3. Save changes → It will sync across Azure, Azure AI Foundry, ML Studio, Teams, Outlook, etc.
