I am using my work account to write this but it is my personal account I'm having trouble with. I am at my wits end trying to get my account at ni*********@aol.com working again. It was blocked by yourselves. I have followed all the many ways suggested by your help pages. Culminating in the email below which tells me I have been verified. When I click the link you give to get up and running again, and put the correct info in it tells me "you have requested too many codes, please try again tomorrow". I have also been verified a week or so ago and the same thing happened. I tried again the next day, same result. I have written to [******@microsoft.co.uk], which is given on your website but it bounced back. Please help.

Right on! The information you submitted for ni********@aol.com has been verified.

After you reset your password, we highly recommend that you update your security information to help keep your account more secure. Adding a phone number, an alternative email address, or a trusted PC will help you get back into your account if you ever lose access to it in the future.

    Hello Battye,

Thank you for sharing what’s been happening with your personal Microsoft account and for walking through the verification email and the “you have requested too many codes” message. I completely understand how upsetting it is to be told you’re verified only to end up stuck in a loop that keeps you locked out especially when the account holds important email and years of history.

What you’re seeing usually happens when Microsoft detects repeated or automated attempts to send verification codes which causes a temporary security lockout meant to protect the account. Since the system resets the timer after each new attempt, even a single retry too soon can unintentionally extend the wait period.

The best next step is to give the account a full twenty‑four hours from your most recent attempt before trying again and use the official password reset link only once during that window. If you still receive no code or the lockout continues you can turn to the Microsoft sign‑in helper and the account recovery form to confirm ownership so the system can reinstate access without relying on the overloaded code delivery path. Once you get back in it’s a good idea to add more security verification methods like an authenticator app, an alternate email and a phone number you can access so you always have a reliable backup.

To mirror Microsoft guidance as closely as possible it can also help to stop all attempts for a full day, try again from a different device or network to rule out local issues, use the reset page once and if nothing changes, fill out the recovery form with as much accurate information as you can so the system can assess the request. A response is typically sent to your working contact email within about twenty‑four hours.

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo
