To fix the issue with Microsoft Word showing an error when you try to open it, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Repair Microsoft Office: Since you mentioned that you pressed the repair button but nothing happened, ensure that you are following the correct procedure to repair Office. You can do this through the Control Panel:
      • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
      • Find Microsoft Office in the list, select it, and then choose "Change". Select "Repair" and follow the prompts.
    2. Open and Repair the Document: If the error occurs with a specific document, you can try to open and repair it:
      • Start Word and go to File > Open > Browse to locate the document.
      • Select the file, click on the drop-down arrow next to the Open button, and choose Open and Repair.
    3. Change the Default Printer: Sometimes, issues with the default printer can cause Word to malfunction:
      • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Right-click on Microsoft XPS Document Writer and select Set as default printer.
      • Restart Word and see if the issue is resolved.
    4. Delete the Word Data Registry Subkey: If the problem persists, you may need to delete the Word Data registry subkey:
      • Exit all Office programs.
      • Type regedit in the search box and press Enter.
      • Navigate to the appropriate registry key based on your version of Word, and delete the Data subkey. Make sure to back up the registry before making changes.
    5. Update Microsoft Office: Ensure that your version of Office is up to date. Go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may want to consider reinstalling Microsoft Office as a last resort.
