In Windows 11, the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) is always enabled and cannot be disabled by users or applications. If you are experiencing lagging and crashing, it may not be directly related to desktop composition being disabled, as it is always on in Windows 11. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take:

    1. Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause performance issues.
    2. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your system is up to date with the latest Windows updates, as these can include important performance improvements and bug fixes.
    3. Check System Resources: Use the Task Manager to check if any applications are consuming excessive CPU or memory resources, which could lead to lagging.
    4. Run System Diagnostics: Use built-in Windows tools to diagnose and fix performance issues. You can run the Performance Troubleshooter from the Settings app.
    5. Scan for Malware: Sometimes malware can cause performance issues. Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus program.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, consider seeking further assistance from Microsoft support or checking the Windows forums for similar issues.

Hello, I'm Yasllame and I'm happy to help.

    1. Restart the graphics service

    Press Win + R, type services.msc.

Locate Desktop Window Manager Session Manager.

Check if the status is Running. If not, start the service.

    1. Update or reinstall the video driver

    Press Win + X > Device Manager.

    Expand Display adapters.

Right-click on the adapter > Update driver.

If it's already up to date, uninstall the driver and restart your PC for automatic reinstallation.

    1. Check system files

    Open Command Prompt as administrator.

    Run:

    sfc /scannow

    Wait for completion and restart.

    1. Test graphics performance

Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics.

Make sure there are no apps forcing extreme power saving mode.
